UK advertisers take a stand against Russia Today’s “propaganda and fake news”

Top UK advertisers are reportedly pulling ads from RT UK over fears the channel is being used to spread “propaganda and fake news” on behalf of Russian president, Vladimir Putin. According to the Sunday Times, brands like Coral, Max Factor and Direct Line have cancelled ads on the network news channel.

Talking about the issue Here and Now 365‘s Managing Director Manish Tiwari said: “Increasingly brands have a choice to define who they are by using the right medium to spread their message, and globally we can see that brands have become conscious of the kind of media they want to be associated with and if they are aligned with their values or not. In the recent past, we have seen the closure of ARY Network from Pakistan for not complying with balanced reporting. Just like mainstream media, it is important that ethnic media is checked too and advertisers need to be conscious of the right media for their brands”.
