The prestigious Indian Awards organised by the India Business Group – brainchild of Amarjit Singh and Lord Kalpesh Patel of Bradford – honoured six individuals who have nurtured commercial and cultural bonds between India and the UK.

Judged by a panel comprising of Lord Patel of Bradford OBE, Virendra Sharma MP, Baroness Prashar CBE, Rajiv Luthra (Managing Partner of Luthra & Luthra Law Advocates), Dr Catherine Raines (former director general of Department of International Trade) and Alan Fitzwater (director of regional engagement at the Institute of Directors), the six elite awards were handed out in the presence of the new Home Secretary RT Hon Sajid Javid and the Indian High Commissioner to the UK HE Mr YK Sinha.

WINNING HIGHLIGHTS:

Professional Advisor Award: Founder and Chairman of Lalcap Limited Deepak Lalwani OBE won the award for the significant mark he has made on the India-UK corridor.

Special Recognition Award: Chairman of Sun Mark Limited Mr Rami Ranger CBE won the award for his outstanding commitment to building UK-India relations.

Larger Business Award: Rolls Royce Plc won the award, with their Marketing Director Benjamin Story collecting it on the firms behalf.

SME Award: EnergyPro won the award with their Managing Partner Dr Steven Fawkes collecting the award.

Arts & Culture Award: Filmmaker Gurinder Chadha won the award for her contribution to cinema.

Entrepreneur Award: Alpesh Patel, founder and chairman of Praefinium Partners won the award.
