Celebrating Diwali with the Labour Party

Not to be outdone, Ed Miliband hosted the Diwali reception at the Labour Headquarters later in the evening; he didn’t forget to mention that Diwali in Downing Street was an event that Labour Party should get the credit for as the Prime Minister is simply continuing the best of what they had initiated.

“Many people in Britain and across the world will in the coming days gather with family and friends to give thanks, to contemplate and to celebrate. As candles glow in people’s homes, we will be reminded of the story of Rama and Sita — and the potential for hope and compassion to triumph over fear.”

This was Mr Miliband’s message this Diwali, which represented the journey of today’s vibrant Indian community in the UK.

With an increasing number of young British Indians being able to look at any part of the country’s national endeavour and see people like them getting to the very top – it reflects a bright future for our community.

Talking about the bright future that lies ahead Mr Miliband said: “Diwali is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the past year, and to look forward to and plan for the future with renewed optimism”

Also present at the event were Labour MP’s Barry Gardiner, Sadiq Khan, Seema Malhotra and Keith Vaz.
